        Higher Fire members:

Lisa has just hit on a subject that is hard to handle in the flesh.
I also attended a Liberal Arts school such as Wellesley and about 10 to 15%
of our student population and faculty are homosexual. How do you handle it?
First, you must be prayed up and walking in the spirit;otherwise, you want
be able to handle it and you will start condemning this group. And we all
know Jesus did not come to condemn the world but to save that which was
lost. Second, you must distinguish between sin and the person. We know GOD
hates sin. Also, we know that we are commanded to love our neighbor. The
lawyer asked "Who is our neighbor?" Of course Jesus proceeded to tell him
a story about a certain Samaritan. We all know the story then Jesus asked
the lawyer "Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbor unto him
that fell among the thieves?"(Luke 10:36) Then in verse 37 the lawyer said
"He that shewed mercy on him... and Jesus said "Go, and do thou likewise."
Basically, we must love the person and at the same time hate the sin that
they are in. Remember, you can do nothing but if we will get on our
knees(instead of knocking them on their knees with criticism) and earnestly
pray for their soul.
Just so I am not misunderstood I hate the sin of homosexuality and
yes it is not always easy for me to love this group. But as Jesus spoke in
Matthew Chpt. 7 about judging and how we should not consider the mote that
is in our brothers eye, but consider the beam in our own eye. I'm not
calling them my brother or my sister but the principle can be applied here.
We all have something we deal with( a giant of some size) but thank GOD for
the Holy Ghost that we may be kept from giving in to this giant or getting
complete victory over this area in our life. The scripture that states:
"Such were some of you.." Never forget where you came from and what God
brought you out of or kept you from. If they do not have the Holy Ghost
then they have no "power" to control or completely obtain victory over it.
Please before judging look at your own self in the "mirror." I find people
who judge the most are those that are frustrated with their own life and
their walk with God.

Remember Sodom and Gomorrah were not destroyed b/c of the
homosexuality in their cities but b/c God could not find even 10 righteous
people.

True Story: During work about a month ago a student worker had a
gall stone attack at his house. I was asked to take this young man to the
emergency room b/c everybody else was busy. I knew this young man was gay.
What should I do? The Holy Ghost moved on me to go and get him from his
house and take him to the emergency room and so I did. I was there for 3.5
hours. Then God began dealing with me about Matthew chpt 5 where it speaks
of our righteouseness should exceed the righteousness of the pharisees and
scribes so afterwards I took him to get his medicine and something to
drink. I'm not tooting my horn but giving GOD the glory and praise for
using me that day. Was I wrong? Did I commit a sin? We all know how it
feels when the Holy Ghost impresses us. But you know this young man not
once tried to come on to me and he even offered me $20.00 which I did not
take. But if you look at his background: he is 19 and been living on his
own since he was 15 b/c his parents disowned him, he spends every holiday
alone with no where to call home, and we should respond with hatred--I think
not--he has had a rough life and yes what he is doing is wrong. But he
doesn't know what real love is. The first group to accept him was not the
church but the gay/lesbian group. I am more mad at his parents b/c they did
not accept their responsibility as parents--to raise him. Please do not
take me as someone who looks past sin b/c I do not but I have a
responsibility as a chrisitan to pray for him and to show him agoppi love.

        Another True Story:

A young man that is attending AC who grew up as a member of the
Church of Christ is now gay. When asked why? They show me more love than
the church did and they accept me for who I am. Nurturing is a big
responsibility of the church. This is one of the reasons why the Lord
refers to the church as a women--they know how to nurture their children and
so should we as a church.

        Sincerely,
