You do realize that J.L. Hall was a contributor to this book
also, don't you? Why didn't they ask him to write the article on
Oneness? I think it is rather obvious that the main editors
chose who they did because they wanted to present Oneness
Pentecostalism in the light that they feel is appropriate or
correct. They misrepresented Oneness doctrine under the auspices
of scholarship. Sure, Hall doesn't have a doctorate (he does
have at least one Master degree), but that didn't stop them from
asking him to contribute in other areas. Why didn't they ask Dr.
Treece? He has the proper credentials.
I think the sad fact is that no matter how many of our ministers
earn advanced degrees we will not be welcomed with open arms into
the academic, Christian community (and I am not so sure we would
want to be). We would still be considered heretics to most of
them...educated heretics, perhaps...but heretics nonetheless.
