<lotsa good stuff snipped for brevity>
Mat 7:21-24 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter
into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father
which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have
we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and
in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto
them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I
will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
1 John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his
commandments.
1 John 5:1-2 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of
God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is
begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God,
when we love God, and keep his commandments.
Mat 22:36-40 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus
said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and
with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great
commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy
neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and
the prophets.
I alway go back to this when ever I see people stating that "you have to
do so and so to be a Christian". Other than Act 2:38 (which is obeying
the Lord about salvation), what we have to do is covered in 1) Love the
Lord and 2) Love our neighbor. I always wonder how much love is one
showing when they tell someone they have to not cut their hair of not
wear shorts or tank tops or not have a tv? People should be taught not
told, led not drug, it is a want to relationship not a have to
relationship. I know a lady that is baptized and has the Holy Ghost (for
6+ months now) and she asked me Monday about hair cutting, she wants a
1-2 hour Bible Study on it. No one prompted her, she is doing it on her
own and that is the beauty of Holiness...obedience to God and His Word
on His terms, not to man on his.
