I think that if you were to look back into the history of the issue,
you would find that sheer stockings, which is what panyhose are, were
originally intended to make a woman more alluring. I haven't watched
TV in *MANY* years, but that's what the ads back in the 70's would
lead one to believe. If that is true, then going without pantyhose
would seem to be more modest!
The truth of the matter IMO is that pantyhose are deliberately
designed to be fragile and run after only a few wearings, thus
creating a consumer demand for a consumable product, hence steady
customers, and big bucks for the companies that sell them.
