Steven paste and writes:
Heb 5:6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the
order of Melchisedec.
Jesus is priest after the *order*.
Same *order* if Melchisedec received the tithe from Abraham, then Jesus receives
the tithe from us.
Jesus said in;
Luke 11:42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner
of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done,
and not to leave the other undone.
*for ye tithe* so the tithe is appropriate, and not to leave the tithe *undone,*
if we don't tithe something is undone.
So the tithe is right, and is a very good place to start, at 10%. IMO, I believe
we must be willing to give all, "Always being led by the Holy Ghost." *Love the
LORD with ALL*.
Mal 3:7 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances,
and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD
of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?
We must return unto God what is His in order to get the things of God returned to
us.
*return* 7725. shuwb, shoob; a prim. root; to turn back (hence, away) trans. or
intrans., lit. or fig. (not necessarily with the idea of return to the starting
point); gen. to retreat; often adv. again:-- ([break, build, circumcise, dig, do
anything, do evil, feed, lay down, lie down, lodge, make, rejoice, send, take,
weep]) X again, (cause to) answer (+ again), X in any case (wise), X at all,
averse, bring (again, back, home again), call [to mind], carry again (back),
cease, X certainly, come again (back) X consider, + continually, convert, deliver
(again), + deny, draw back, fetch home again, X fro, get [oneself] (back) again, X
give (again), go again (back, home), [go] out, hinder, let, [see] more, X needs,
be past, X pay, pervert, pull in again, put (again, up again), recall, recompense,
recover, refresh, relieve, render (again), X repent, requite, rescue, restore,
retrieve, (cause to, make to) return, reverse, reward, + say nay, send back, set
again, slide back, still, X surely, take back (off), (cause to, make to) turn
(again, self again, away, back, back again, backward, from, off), withdraw.
What happens when we hold back, or rob from God?
Josh 6:18 And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye
make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of
Israel a curse, and trouble it.
Josh 6:19 But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are
consecrated unto the LORD: they shall come into the treasury of the LORD.
Every thing was to be God's * first fruits or first victory was the Lord's, same
as the tithe, to be put into the treasury. * (Mal 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes
into the storehouse,......)
Josh 6:24 And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein: only the
silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the
treasury of the house of the LORD.
Josh 7:1 But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing:
for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of
Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against
the children of Israel.
(Achan robbed the treasury of the Lord and brought a curse upon Israel, and he
lost everything. We also lose much by not giving to the Lord what is His.)
Josh 7:11 Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I
commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also
stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.
We must not mix what belongs to God with our stuff!
Didn't robbing God bring a curse just the same as: Mal 3:9 Ye are cursed with a
curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
The tithe is right, we must give the tithe before we can give an offering, the 10%
first, then we can give an offering anything over the tenth would be an offering.
