Messing with the IRS ... woo, woo

I am just as fond of a good joke as the next guy, but...
Having worked for a State Division of Taxation I can verify the extreme
cruelty of the aforementioned procedures. I am sorry, but I have too much
sympathy for the overworked and underpaid employees who have to deal with
the actual returns. One might be ashamed of oneself if one knew how
extremely stressful working in the Document Processing and Control section
of any tax agency is. Most of those workers get little above minimum wage
and are very strictly supervised (to insure that they are CONSTANTLY
working). I have seen a number of good people be badly burnt out after a
stint in such a department. It is kind of like working at the Post Office.
Those people don't go nutso for nothing.
The people who should be targeted with hate mail (or at least very
perturbed mail) are the ones in charge of the tax code -- our friendly
neighborhood Senators and Congressmen. Send them some glued envelopes or
some letter written on a Kroger sack, and while you are at it, attach your
register receipt to show them just how much groceries really cost these
days.
Just my little soapbox for today.
