I belong to UPC, but the only thing my pastor says is we should respect the
"office", not just the individuals within it per se.  Just like you respect
your boss's position at work, but realize s/he makes mistakes, and realize
s/he puts their undies on one leg at a time just like all of us! :)

I recall a verse in scripture (can't quote it right now, short on time)
where the disciples were "tattling" that others who weren't in the "group"
were also preaching in Jesus' name.  Jesus said whoever is not against us
is for us (in so many words).
