Yes, you are right. Jesus in that instance was referring to that as a rock.  
But Jesus is also the rock. "And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for 
they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was 
Christ." - 1 Corinthians 10:4

"And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their 
redeemer." - Psalms 78:35

O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of 
our salvation." - Psalms 95:1

"Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast 
given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress." - 
Psalms 71:3

Yes, right again.  But did not Jesus say in Matthew 16:19; ". . .And I will 
give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven"?  And did not Peter give 
us those keys with us in Acts 2:38?
