Here is PART 2.
Lets turn to Colossians 2:20-3:3. "Wherefore if ye be dead with
Christ from the rudiments of the world, why as though living in the
world, are ye subject to ordinances, (Touch not; taste not; handle
not; which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments
and doctrines of men? Which things Have Indeed a shew of wisdom in
will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any
honor to the satisfying of the flesh. <CH 3> If ye then be risen
with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth
on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on
things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with
Christ in God." The bible is saying here that ordinances are good,
but we need to be focused on going to heaven not just on the
standards or ordinances. I don't know about ya'll but I feel that
sometimes we do overdo the emphasis on standards.
(For example see Matt. 23:33). Some churches just try to outdo
others on standards and forget what they were originally meant for.
(II tim. 3:5). Holiness standards are for the church today yes
(James 4:17) but it should be reminded once more that they are to be
included with faith as well . (Paul 1; Col. 2:23; I peter 1:16)
I am not going into exact standards right now as this is being
discussed quite a lot, but I am just trying to show that we need to
take it slowly and pray about the right balance between holiness and
faith.
I also pray that I did not offend any one with these posts.
I just want everyone to realize the bitterness that I have seen in
some of the posts lately I do apolgize if I come or have came over in
the same manner.
Your loving and trying to be humble (and stuborn sometimes) brother,
Brandon Parker
