Hi! My name is Rachel and I attend Life Tabernacle in Houston. I was
involved in and later led a campus ministry at the University of Houston.
It's funny, because even though I graduated a year ago, I still am reaching
out to people I met at UH.

I guess my number one advice would be prayer and fasting, and my number 2
advice would be prayer and fasting.

A lot of how your campus ministry will work is going to depend upon the
people you have to work with. Most young people and church members in
general are not used to bold evangelism. If you don't have a group
already, you will have to start with getting people involved and then
training and leading them into evangelism. I found the hardest thing for
us to do was to "GET OUT THERE" where the hungry people were. We would
have Bible study after Bible Study with just us, so we had to find some
tactics to get to the people.

ADVERTISE: We put banners up that drew people and flyers. We passed out
small flyers right before our meeting to let people know we were there.

GET OUT THERE: We had outdoor concerts where we passed out flyers. We
never had outdoor preaching, but I suggest you try it. Once a week we
would set up a table in a busy traffic area and sit there with tracts for
people to pick up and talk with them.

GET HELP: I suggest you try to get your church involved. Especially
people that know how to pray and are already used to evangelism. College
students get very busy and you will need people to help that have more
time. I don't know if you are a minister, but if not it would be good if
one would get involved. I had many annointed men of God come and speak.

Be careful not to push your members too much. Encourage them to be
involved in the level they are able to handle. They may not be up to
getting out there, but they may be able to witness to their friends which
everyone should do anyway.

Hope this helps a little.

-Rachel

P.S. There should be someone in your state over UPC campus ministries. I
suggest you find out who that is and get their support. I know in Texas it
is Bro. McManus.
