Dear Sis. Rachel,
I just had to reply to that note on single parents. One can tell you have
been there, because what you said about single parents is so true. In a
church where marriage and raising children in an intact family is being held
in such high esteem (and it should be, because there is nothing better than
a healthy family) us single parents sometimes feel left alone. There have
been times where I thought I was a second-rate Christian, because I am a
single parents and divorced on top of it. I always thought we are the
outcast of Christianity, until I got this one thought. I might be wrong on
it, tell me if I am, but it is tremendously encouraging to me. Jesus is a
single parent as well. He is both father and mother to us...Ever since I
thought about it this way, I feel much better. Also, my pastor is very
supportive of single parents. We happen to have a lot in our church, and he
always says that he has a lot of respect for single parents. It feels good
to know, that we are not being left alone in our endeavor to raise our
children in God's way, but that there are people like you and others who's
hearts go out to us and who are praying for us. Thank you so much dear
Sister for your encouragement. God bless you. Doris
