Hi,
since I am a new member on this mailing-list, I was told to introduce
myself. I will do that and also add a question, that I hope you will be able
to give me an answer on.
Okay, ready or not, here it comes:
My name is Doris Ross, I live in Augsburg, Germany, where I attend the
"Vereinigte Pfingstgemeinde Augsburg" (the United Pentecostal Church of
Augsburg). I am a single mother, having two lovely daughters, Sharon and
Sabrina, who also are very involved in church. My testimony of how I found
my Lord is very short and unspectacular. While I was still married, we lived
in Colorado Springs and we always drove by this little white church, that
had such a "glow" to it, that I felt drawn by it. I told my husband, we must
go there one of these days, but we never went. Then I happened to meet this
guy who invited a friend of mine to church. This friend went and when he
came back, he was all on fire. He told me "you got to go to this church,
they run around the isle there". Being of a catholic backround, never having
heard of such an "abominable thing" as clapping your hands and dancing in
front of the altar, I went. ...And wouldn't you know it, ... it was the
little white church, that I felt drawn too all this time. Anyway, I went to
this church and I cried all through the service, being touched by the Lord.
(My friend told me later, he was sooooo embarrassed.) Anyway, I asked my
husband to go with me, since at that point in time my marriage, was
practically over, but he declined. I deeply believe, if he would have went
with me, our marriage, could have been saved. Anyway, on December 6, 1987 I
was baptized in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus Christ and on December
12th I boarded a plane to fly to Germany. In my pocket I carried a piece of
paper, with the address of Bro. Enis, who is in charge of the military
church here in Europe. So after a short vacation in Austria, where I made
the mistake of going to a catholic church (at that point in time I didn't
know any better. Matter of fact, I didn't even know that I was baptized in
Jesus name) I realized that I had to contact Bro. Enis. He then told me of a
missionary church right in my city of Augsburg, which I have been attending
ever since. To me being able to find a church in my city is a miracle, since
at that point in time there were only 3 churches in all of Germany, now
there are 11, I think, which still is not enough to reach a people of 80
Million. But we are working on it. Anyway, I am greatful to the Lord that he
gave me a church to go to and an opportunity to be able to work for Him in a
country where there is so much darkness and so much tradition. Augsburg, is
part of Bavaria, which is known to be hard-core catholic country. People
love to cling to their traditions, but the Holy Ghost is stronger than any
tradition and one by one, we are able to slowly tear the people out of the
snare of the devil. (Praise God).
This past weekend, my family and I we went to the German-Austrian General
Conference and had a wonderful time in the Lord. He blessed abundantly,
though in the beginning the devil tried everything so we couldn't go there.
We got at least two and one half feet of snow and the roads were so icy, we
couldn't get up the hill. But God is stronger and we made it up and were
blessed. About 120 saints from Germany and Austria showed up and we had a
wonderful time in the Lord. One lady received the Holy Ghost, one older
person was healed. The rest of us got refreshed tremendously.
Okay, this is my testimony. Hope I didn't bore you.
Here is a question, that came up the other day. Ephesians 4,11, says there
are different ministries, Apostles, pastors, teachers... My question is,
what is the definition of an Apostle in todays church. The biblical "job
description" of Apostle is to build churches, to organize, to ordain new
ministers, baptize,.... and much more. I have a comentary on Ephesians, that
says that an Apostle is basically a missionary, going into new countries to
build churches. I believe, that in one way or another we are all Apostles,
because we are embassadors of Christ, trying to win the lost. What do you
think? Reason I am asking is, because I have been witnessing to this person
in the IRC and he is of a German denomination that call themselves
"Neuapostolisch" (new Apostolic, they are trinity and closely related to the
Catholics). Anyway, they have 12 Apostles sitting in front of the
congregation at every service and he asked me, if we have that too. I didn't
really know how to answer him, because I never checked into the subject.
That's where I need your help. God bless you all. Dors
