R rated movies

Mike:

I disagree that one who watches R rated movies needs to make a trip
to the alter. NOt all R rated movies are like Pulp Fiction. Like
you, someone had that movie and I saw parts of it. I didn't make it
through the first hour. Not only was it repulsive, but it was just
plain stupid. I hate stupidity. I can't see what people see in
sitcoms.

there are many R rated movies that are not depraved. A recent one I
saw on TV, which was edited for language was Out of Africa. A
visually stunning movie. I also recently saw Dead Man Walking and
this movie was an excellent piece on capitol punishment. The acting
was superb and it is about a Catholic Nun who spends time with a
convicted killer hoping to show him the error of his ways before he
is executed. While, of course, I know that the convict could not be
saved from his sins through her exercise, I can still appreciate the
movie and think of how if an apostolic minister would go into death
row, he might be able to get a killer to repent and be saved.

Just my opinion.

"Given the odds, we weren't supposed to stop being slaves. Given the
opposition, we weren't supposed to have an education. Given the history, we
weren't supposed to have families. Given the blues, we weren't supposed to
have spirit. Given the power of the enemy, we weren't supposed to fight back.
Not only have we achieved victories, we have--despite the powers against
us--become our own victories."
