What's this "T408a"?  That's not the version number (ROM v4.08 did not
have class 2.0 and I think the EG wasn't even on the market at that time),
so what *is* your modem's version number?

Strange indeed.  How does it look at the receiving end?  As the file size
is very different, it could be a flow control issue.  Please check the 
log file with "sendfax -x6" for something unusual.
