In praise of winmodems.

I really have no idea how well a winmodem driver would scale.  I
expect it would scale much better for fax than for 56Kbps.  Are you
saying that, because it is not likely to scale at the same rate as
separate processors per line, it will not scale at all?  I'd say that
it's premature to make *any* comparisons, since there's no winmodem
code to benchmark.
