Mgetty not answering

Hi, My Redhat Linux box has mgetty installed to answer calls.  It was
working fine for the longest time but then the computer locked up one
day and I had to reboot it, since then it won't answer the phone
anymore.  When I call the linux box from another machine it just keeps
ringing, but if I stand beside the linux box I can hear the modem click
on to answer the phone but it still keeps ringing.  Also I can see in my
processs that mgetty has started so I assume that the computer knows
that the modem has answered a call but it wont make a connection, and on
the dialing in machine it still just keeps ringing, does this seem like
a modem problem to anyone?
