Uh, while agree that "we don't need the functionality in pvfspeed", it's
a bug nevertheless - if tools like "pvfspeed" can't handle stereo input,
they should complain, but not silently convert it to "mono with too many
samples".
Either convert mono->mono / stereo->stereo (changing the speed of the
individual channels with proper per-channel interpolation), or convert
"mono->mono / stereo->error message".
