vgetty front end and a minor problem with vgetty itself

Hi 
  I was looking for a gui for vgetty but all i could find was Kvoice
  for kde. I would rather not have to install the KDE libs and such.
  any advise or pointers would be great.

  Also vgetty is working fine except for one thing it seems to not want
  to relinquish control of the modem after a call. it records the
  message  and the caller hangs up but vgetty doesnt. im probably
  missing some thing stupid im sure so dont flame me if i am.
