Which firmware is that, exactly?  What does "ati7" show?

Bad.  It really should list "<x> lines bad" if the lines *are* bad.

How many errors are "a lot"?  About 50-100 erroneous lines could be
considered "ok" for a bad phone line, but more certainly not.
