Ok, it works with class 2 but what about class 1?

What is class 3 supposed to be? There is class 1, class 1.0, class 2,
class 2.0, some vendor-specific things (Zyxel's +FCLASS=Z), but to my
knowledge, there is no class 3.
You mean *group* 3? This is something different, concerning "what happens
on the wire", while the classes specify "what AT command do I need to
get the G3 fax modem to do what I want?".
