Request for opinions on 28.8 voice-capable modems

Have no bad experience with it. Received the Elite, pluged wires and cables
in, switched it on and it workes fine.
Ok, there are some errors in the software, but I can live with them. Which
piece of (complex) software is error-free ?
Replacing the firmware with newer ones also makes no problems.

There are some differences between 2864 and 1496, so you can't use it with
the given vgetty as an answering machine, but the new vgetty will do it and
it's not so hard to patch the old one.
