faxpolling in 0.97-August14 "seems" not to work?!

Ladies'n Gentlemen,

I'm using mgetty+sendfax 0.97-August14.  Yesterday I've polled some fax
pages from the german info fax of WISO (0190-250023/24).  Although the pages
are now under /tmp, named "ff....1B-+49-...." I cannot view them (e.g. w/
g3view).  Furthermore my "file" command only says "data", bothing 'bout 
"G3 data", although I've added the byte checks in question to /etc/magic.

Did I miss something, like running the files thru g3cat or so?

The fax-log of the poll looks good -- no errors, no lost bytes, even no
retransmitted blocks...

Any clues?
