ZyXEL and zplay?

Hi,
I just got a ZyXEL Elite 2864 and installed mgetty/sendfax/vgetty. My questions
are regarding vgetty.
First, I can't seem to get zplay to record according to my wishes: The `-L'
and `-c' options don't do what I want. For example, the following two commands
behave exactly the same way, i.e. they don't stop recording until I hit Control-C:
$ zplay -r fred -L 15 -m -l ttyS2
$ zplay -r fred -L 5 -m -l ttyS2
Why doesn't max length stop the recording?
Also, the following two compression settings seem to record the same (poor)
quality voice:
$ zplay -r fred -L 15 -m -x 7 -l ttyS2 -T 10 -V 0 -c 4
$ zplay -r fred -L 15 -m -x 7 -l ttyS2 -T 10 -V 0 -c 127
Why doesn't the voice quality get better when I use better values for `-c'?
My second question is about voice mail. As far as I can tell from the man and
info pages, vgetty is designed for only one level of DTMF operation --- I mean
it looks like you can have only one voice `menu'. I would like to have the
ability to switch menus like those snazzy professional voice-mail
implementations. Is it possible to use vgetty this way? Is anyone out there
doing it?
Thanks for any info you can give me,
David Wuertele
