: Yes. ;-)
: I and two or three other people managed to connect mgetty+sendfax to the
: NEXTSTEP fax system. For the sending part, there's a package, ps2g3, from
: Kevin Peckover in the archives (e.g. ftp.informatik.uni-muenchen.de) that
: contains a precompiled (old) version of sendfax and a setup program that
: installs a new fax modem in the NEXTSTEP fax system. The nice thing: it
: doesn't need ghostscript, but uses DPS to render the pages!
: I've never tried this stuff ;-)
: The receiving part should be much easier. Kevin hacked together some stuff,
: but didn't make it public, as did Christian Starkjohann and Mark Salyzyn. I
: started to modify the mgetty source accordingly (most important change:
: three-digit page numbers instead of only two! ;-), but stopped sometimes, when
: I found that this part of mgetty would like to see a major cleanup. Gert told
: me that this is on his todo-list, so I'm still waiting ;-) (no offense!).
: Anyway, the necessary knowledge is there. We just have to bundle it.
I am interested in this stuff too.
I've installed mgetty+sendfax, which seems to work.
The ps2g3 package has some problems with my 68040 System with NS3.3 (when the line is
busy the fax is resent forever.)
Where can I get some information how the NeXT fax-system works and how to combine it with
mgetty+sendfax? Where is the info of Christian Starkjohann and Mark Salyzyn?
Thanks for any help, Charly.
