What is more worth for you, a bit money saved, or lots of time and
hassles saved? I chose the "time and hassles", invest somewhat more
money for a ZyXEL, and can sleep well at night, knowing that my ZyXELs
(all five of them!) will work flawlessly and reliably 24 hrs a day.
For private use, and dial-out only, a ZyXEL may be too expensive, this
is right. For company use, and heavy mixed dial-in, dial-out, fax-in and
fax-out, I didn't find any better modem than ZyXELs yet.
(USR Couriers are very reliable as well, but their Fax implementation is
sloppy, so I don't use them. USR Sportsters tend to burn out regularily
... a friend of mine has his fourth or fifth Sportster now, since all
broke after a week or two...)

You might want to look for ZyXEL's upcoming Omni288, which is quite
promising, and cheaper than the Elite.
