The first IP is assigned to the dialin network-interface of the server (ppp0
for example). The second IP is assigned to the calling party.
If the server doesn't stand alone, but is already connected to a LAN, for
example an ethernet with several other machines, let's say sunflower (IP
192.168.0.2) and tulip (IP 192.168.0.3), and the server (let's call him
Goliath) is known in the ethernet with the IP-address 192.168.0.1, the
following line should do:
# caller is given following IP
:192.168.0.20
I think this is less confusing.
You should be able to ping Goliath, sunflower and tulip from Win98 (Don't
forget to setup /etc/hosts right on Goliath).
Run the program C:\WINDOWS\WINIPCFG.EXE on your windows machine to see if
you've got the right IP-address.

If you want to see your Linux machine on your Win98 desktop you have to
install samba on Goliath.
Be shure that:
- the user logged in to the Win98 machine has access to some services
provided by samba.
- the Win98 machine is in the same workgroup with goliath (that's easier for
first tests)
- you have activated the NetBEUI protocol on your Win98 machine

I have this thing you want to do running here.
So if you have further questions, feel free to ask me by email...
(... I think it's a bit off topic here.)
