You didn't make clear in your first question that this problem was only
happening for AutoPPP users - which lead us to wrong conclusions.
For the PPP case, it's a FAQ, and as such answered in the mgetty FAQ.
(And not a mgetty problem at all - pppd doesn't put the required data into
utmp, and there is supposed to be a patch available somewhere, but this is
NOT a mgetty problem, and as I do not use ppp on Linux, I don't have any
idea how to solve this. Ask the PPP people.)
