hey all,
this is probably a simple question... don't know. :-)
can i get vgetty (or mgetty) to *remember* the number of RINGxS it
recieves?
i want to do something like what we used to do as a kid. ring a number a
few times, hang up, ring again hang up. and the person on the ringing side
knew it was u. and would do something appropriately. e.g. come and pick
you up! ;-)
so this is what i want...
whichever getty can do it... to remember the number of RINGxS it gets...
so if i ring 4 times, hang up, ring 2 times, hang up, ring 4 times, hang
up. and of course this is within a timeout period of, say 2 minutes. the
computer then knows to ring up my ISP and get online and then post it's IP
address a public area.
is this possible? can someone (if they've already done it) give me a quick
script or something. ;-) it'd be much appreciated.
oh and b4 somebody says get caller id... i did have it but it doesn't
really solve my problem... as i may want the computer to do several
things... which is where the ring sequence comes in to play.
oh and why don't i want to let the computer to pick up the phone... well
costs mostly... esp. if i do this alot... and maybe (one day) i'm overseas
or something? maybe. ;-)
all the best everyone,
ben
