I too need to hook up 8 modems, but one needs to do voice, one data,
and the rest fax. I looked at the Comtrol RocketModem 8 port board,
but it won't do the voice part. I guess I could put a Zyxel 1459 on a
motherboard serial port to handle the voice requirement.

The newer Rocketmodem boards are PCI and have individual reset
controls over the modems, but they are only 6 port, not 8. :-(

The fax modems are needed for sending, not receiving. What is a cheap
reliable fax sending modem? Any suggestions? I had planned to used
Zyxel's, but they are getting harder and harder to find in the US, and
I get worried for future support and availability. I plan to
eventually build several of these boxes.

The use of a multiport modem board is attractive because of limited
shelf space at the server colocation site.
