I have been using Cyclades (www.cyclades.com) mulitiport boards
with much success.

If you will never have more than 8 modems, the 8-port board with
an octupus cable will do well.  If you may later need more, then
the one with the external interface box will be better for you.

We had first eight modms, then 16, then 24. . .

BTW, the 24 modems are supporting some 900 dial-in users on a
496DX4-100 with 32 MB of DRAM, so you might consider using an
older computer to keep costs low.
