mgetty doesn't display logging

Hello all,

mgetty is picking up the phone fine when I dial in, but doesn't show
anything from /etc/issue or the login screen:

Here is my config files

In /etc/inittab:
S0:235:respawn:/sbin/mgetty -x 3 ttyS0
             and tried
S0:235:respawn:/sbin/mgetty -x 3 -p "@" ttyS0

on my /etc/mgetty+sendfax/mgetty.config
# Supra 144LC
port ttyS0
debug 9
data-only yes
term vt100


I have a 14,400 extern modem ( I know it's slow, but I want to use it
as a backup for my sever, for myself, so I'm not picky plus I have
DSL)  Any help would be great... thanks in advance
