Mgetty and distinctive ring

I am running linux on an old 486 that has a SupraFAX 288i modem in it. I'm
new at this. Forgive me if the answer to my question is obvious to old
hands.
My telephone line has distinctive ring enabled. I would like to configure
the linux box so that it will answer and receive faxes if the line rings
with two short rings -- i.e. Ring2 -- and not if the line rings with a
regular ring -- i.e. Ring1.
I have been reading the mgetty/vgetty documentation. I see that distinctive
ring is provided for in vgetty, but I don't need (or have) voice capability,
nor do I need the ability to receive data calls. I just need fax, just on a
Ring2.
Can this be done with mgetty?
Thanks for your help.
Otis
