I see your point.
Russell Nelson has proposed an quite easy solution for that -- convert
the G3 file to postscript, and mail that file to the receiver/relay. IMHO
a waste of bandwidth, but easy to implement on top of the existing
tpc.int infrastructure.
Another approach would be to work together with tpc.int to permit
additional file types, e.g. G3 or tiff/g3 or something like that.

I'd start with what tpc.int already has -- I didn't look at it for a
long time, so I don't know the current scripts, but it should be easier
to start with what they have, than to do everything from scratch.

Nevertheless: why not share technology? That's what make free software
so successful :-)
