Have a look in use.txt in the docs subdir of the ghostscript distribution.
There is also a "-g" flag which is similar. This is only in recent
ghostscript's ( > 4.0)
It does cause clipping rather than scaling(which is what you would normally
want) - you lose ~2/3 inch on the right hand side for letter documents.
Sometimes this is not so bad, sometimes it wipes half the "total" column
off invoices :-)
Ideally i guess you'd want to "scale" the document. You would need to
disable the setpagedevice operator first and then insert a scale command
somewhere into the start of the postscript job. This is kind of difficult
to do to arbitary postscript jobs ie you dont want to disturb docs that are
already a4 anyway.
