Could be, depending on the *input* files.

Don't do this -- g3cat will fix some of the problems introduced by
ghostscript under certain conditions.

Hmmm, yes.  I just noticed that you have a fairly old mgetty version,
where the docs possibly did not contain that part yet.  See the current
docs on http://alpha.greenie.net/mgetty/ for a discussion of the
Ghostscript problems (bad page width for certain input files).

Same thing, old docs :-) -- USR Sportsters are known to be very unreliable
for faxing.  Some people, for some models, have been lucky and "it works",
for most others, Sportsters can NOT be recommended.  USR Courier modems
are quite good.
