Raw g3 is always a single page.  The answer to your question depends
on what you want to do with the multipage fax.  Mgetty will happily
accept a sequence of single pages and send them.  If you want to
archive received faxes, you need to choose a suitable format.  I would 
recommend
  fax2tiff -M4 [g3 files...]>
which gives you g4 compressed tiff, but what is best for you depends
on your environment.
