mgetty+kernel+compiler+cyclades

        I have noticed problem with glibc,egcs-1.0.3, mgetty-1.1.14, lower level
cyclades drivers in the linux 2.0.34 kernel and previous kernel to 2.0.29,

        It appears that when mgetty is compiled with egcs "no pentium
optimizations" i even compiled it staticly linked to test. and recompiled the
kernel when all the modems were not being initialized at the same time. only
one at a time could be. after many headaches i compiled gcc-2.7.2.3 and
recompiled mgetty.
still the same problem.
than i recompiled the kernel remade and installed the modules and bewm.
everything works.
        I then set the compiler to egcs and recompiled everything stated above.
broken only one modem will initialize at a time.(meaning the mgetty is timing
out on send the modem the init string).
all these compiles were done linked to glibc-2.0.6 .... so far.
just for kicks i cross compiled mgetty and the kernel with egcs to libc5.
broken also.
        It appears the cyclome driver maybe to blame or egcs it self for these
problems.
egcs has been very stable on all my other systems.
        If anyone knows where the problem is i would appreciate the knowlege
I will try to look at the kernel level cyclome driver when i bring up the next
modem annex.
