Interesting. Please compare tranmission speeds - is it always crippled
when sending with 14400 bps, but works fine when sending with 9600? That
would not be surprising.

I'm fairly sure it's not the 1496's fault, and neither mgetty's -- this
combination works absolutely flawlessly for me any many others since
about 4-5 years, and I've never seen the scenario you describe.

On the other hand, we all know the quality of Windows programs... - it
might not be visible to every receiver, but some capabilities on the
receiving end might trigger a bug in there. What fax mode do you use
on the Windows end? Class 1/1.0/2/2.0? Maybe even software emulated
fax over an ISDN card?

Hmmm, yes. Make the source file available as postscript, and the
received G3 file. If you want, you can also fax it to me, to
089/35663087 (ZyXEL) and 089/35663089 (USR Courier).

I bet it has something to do with 14400 bps faxing, or page length/page
conversion issues. (Unfortunately, you can't test that with the 1496 -
that's the only fax "bug" I found in it, just recently, you can't easily
tell it "only usw 9600 bps for receiving, not 14400" - with the USR I
can reduce the speed down to 2400, if needed, to see if that makes a
difference...).
