HELP: Unable to send more than 1 page

I am using a USR Sportster Flash with mgetty+sendfax and when sending
more than 1 page of fax, the program stops with these lines after
sending the 1ast page:

[date] page complete, 49564 Bytes sent.
[date] sending DLE ','
[date] mdm_read_byte: read returned 0: unknown error
[date] mdm_get_line: cannot read byte, return: unknown error
[date] failed transmitting myfile.g3: phone="339", +FHS:-5, dev=ttyS0,
time=32s, acct=""

Any ideas what that could be?
