I believe the DTMF digit has to be DURING the OGM. Once you're recording, its
too late (I'm sure Gert will jump on this, one way or the other). Some of the
vgetty scripts (like mine) will let you jump to fax/data mode just about any 
time (in the case of fax, I respond to the fax calling tone. For data, you need
a matching DTMF/node pair that exits for data, or a data calling tone).

But again, I think stock vgetty is DURING the ogm.
