Not really.  The inner workings of mgetty are totally different from efax,
so this would bring major pain.

(In addition, I'm not very keen on getting another Real Huge Piece of 
code that I will have to maintain ever on - that's what happened with
gettydefs.c, and people still say it doesn't work on Linux).

No.

You could use Hylafax for answering incoming calls, though, and call
mgetty from there if it's not a fax.  Hylafax can do class 1 as well.
