vgetty not BEEPing on demand

Hmmm. This is not a known problem to be, but I have read about problems
with vgetty and USR modems - the USRs are strange, and the vgetty driver
seems to be slightly buggy as well.

Please send your vgetty log files (just about 200 lines, showing both cases) 
to the list, so that Marc and the other USR users can look at them.
