Stupid me. This could well be the Modem's fault, but I forgot to mention
which one I have: It's a Diamond SupraExpress 56ePro, recognized as
Rockwell.

As for the logfiles, I don't have them here at work. I'll post them if I
shall, but they don't say any more than I stated.
