This should be pretty unrelated.  Unless there is a bug in the serial
driver for the Equinox board [or mgetty is setup wrongly - check inittab],
nothing that one modem can do should affect mgetty's communication with a
different modem line.

As for pppd, interactions *are* possible if the IP addresses for different
lines collide.  For normal serial connections, no way.
