mgetty logfiles

: "mv" the files away (mgetty will now have the file with the "new name" 
: open), kill the running mgetty process, then archive the files
yup, that's it. Many thanks to everybody who proposed this solution. Please
excuse me while I'm banging my head on the table; I should have found this
solution myself...

: (after restart, mgetty will have use "old file names" again).
Unfortunately, the "new" logfiles will be owned by root.wheel and have
mode 0666. It's not a problem to fix the permissions but the logs will
be vulnerable for a short period of time. Life's a bitch...
