This is mgetty, and it concerns only the *FAX* part.

This is the voice section, looking for more details, and identifying the
Dr.Neuhaus modem als "one specific modem out of the larger Rockwell
family".

Both autodetection functions will be merged one day, but right now, they
have different purposes, and mgetty's is quite experimental.

No. The new code in mgetty doesn't actually *do* something, it just uses
the ATI code to decide whether to use AT+FCLASS=2.0 or AT+FCLASS=2.
