modems

I have read all the great things said about the Zyxel(?) modems but I cant
find a store near me that sells them. I would like to know if anyone
has had luck getting any other modems to work with vgetty, mgetty, and fax.
When I say luck I mean not only you got it to work but it didn't take much
more than changing a few defines.
