I have a Zoom 14.4 fax/data/voice modem that I wish I had never heard
of! It might be suitable for a DOS box that goes online once or twice
a week for 10 or 15 minutes, but it is totally useless for a server
that is supposed to receive incoming calls. It will almost never
connect with a modem that calls it, and it usually hangs the phone
line after a day or two in such a way that a re-boot will not cure.
Not even a press of the old reset button will restore its [partial]
sanity. The only thing that will get it working again is a complete
power cycle down and back up. What a peice of junk! Stay away from
these toys. I haven't used mine for a year and a half. I now use a
Zyxel Omni 288S with vgetty. :-)
