 Hi,

 May be you forget to hard-reset your modem after changing
ROMS ?
 I have working Zyxel 1496E+ with rom 6.17. I did not noticed
any problem with it. 6.17 works in fax sending, reception and
in voice mode. I burned 6.17 couple of monthes ago.
 And, FYI, only bug I know in 6.17 (and any previous version)
is rare absence of echo of an "AT..." command in voice mode while
receiving DTMF code. I've reported this to the Zyxel tech.
support, but still have no any positive reaction :-)
 In particular, as workaround for this Marc have added new
configuration parameter to the voice.conf - "enable_command_echo".
