I think I had the same problem with #VTX and #VLS. Can't tell 
for sure since you didn't include any log file info. Marc 
helped me to change "port_timeout" in the voice.conf 
file. I made 

port_timeout 10

and the problem went away. Unfortunately I cannot help you 
with the watchdog timer. I still have a similar same problem. 
Some people have changed compression methods to get around it. 
It didn't help for me. I think it is related to the 
modem initialization, but I have not had time work on it. 
I must say, though, I have never had 9 minute worth of 
recording. My voice controls have rudimentary functionality despite 
the expiring timer. 

BTW, could someone out there with a working Rockwell modem 
(preferably a Supra 336iSp ASVD :() send me their active profile 
(at &v)? Thanks!
